To create a unique, experience across the 2014 Big Day Out (BDO) Tour in both New Zealand and Australia that combined the worlds of digital and tangible and engaged MTV audiences on social media.
The Creative Shop developed ‘MTV Social Balls’ – an interactive experience utilising a festival favourite – a supersized beach ball – that allowed those that attended the event, to relive the moment online and for those that were stuck at home, with a punters view directly from the crowd. The Creative Shop delivered two branded MTV Social Balls with built in HD cameras and aerials to capture video and photo content from the live event. A wireless network around the stage enabled the video content of the crowd to be streamed to the large format screens either side of the stage, with all images being uploaded to facebook for tagging and sharing. The MTV Social Ball toured across the full 2014 Big Day Out events in Auckland on the 17th of January, through to the Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and finished up in Perth on the 2nd of February.
